Sirens tested at noon today

Local officials plan on testing early-warning storm sirens each today at noon.

After today, testing will be done each Friday at the same time.

During a real emergency, a long tone will alert residents to serious weather. The sirens will be activated during the following circumstances:

  • A tornado warning has been issued for Marion or Crittenden County by the National Weather Service in Paducah.
  • When a public safety officer such as police, fire or EMS reports sighting a funnel cloud or tornado.
  • When a trained Sky Warn Spotter sights a tornado.
