Three men charged in Livingston County with theft of scrap metal

Livingston County Sheriff's Department has arrested three men, including one from Livingston County, in connection with a scrap metal theft in a rural part of the county.

According to the sheriff's department, deputies received a complaint that there was possibly a theft in progress at a vacant property on Dunlap Road near Tiline.

Deputy Irvin Davis was responding to that location when he met a truck matching the description of the suspect vehicle. The deputy was able to stop the vehicle and discovered a large amount of scrap metal in the cargo area.

Authorities say the three men were questioned, and it was determined that they had stolen the items from a residence on Dunlap Road.

The following three individuals were arrested and each charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking under $500, a Class A misdemeanor:

  • Tyler Derry, 22, of Metropolis Ill.
  • Andrew Hall, 34, of Utica, Ky.
  • Brandon Cannon, 30, of Grand Rivers.

Livingston County Sheriff's Department encourages individuals to report suspicious activity in their neighborhood to authorities.
