Old Ledbetter Bridge to be detonated Tuesday

A detonation is planned this week to explode the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge, commonly known as Old Ledbetter Bridge. The explosion is set for 8 a.m. Tuesday and viewing areas will be arranged by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet on the new U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge. A safety zone will be enforced around the bridge, which means the public may not come within 1,500 feet of the blast site. Property owners are permitted to stay in their homes, but may not go outdoors after 7 a.m., or an hour before the blast.
