Traffic restricted at new Ledbetter Bridge Tuesday

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict westbound traffic to one lane on the new U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge at Ledbetter starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

This lane restriction for westbound traffic only is to allow KyTC personnel, area news media and the public to observe round one of controlled explosive demolition on the old Ledbetter Bridge scheduled for 8 a.m. Tuesday, weather permitting.

All westbound traffic along U.S. 60 on the bridge approaches and bridge deck will be moved to the left-hand or passing lane in this work zone. There will be no stopping allowed on the bridge in this work zone.

Motorists who regularly travel across the new U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge at Ledbetter between 6 and about 10 a.m. should consider allowing extra travel time for the Tuesday morning commute, as traffic congestion is likely in the area due to preparations for the first of several controlled explosive detonations on the old Ledbetter Bridge..

Motorists should use extra caution due to personnel on the bridge in close proximity to traffic flow. There will be an enhanced enforcement presence in this work zone.
