Area deaths

Betty Jean Higgs, 81, of Salem died Sept. 6, 2015, at Livingston Hospital and Healthcare Services in Salem. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at Tyners Chapel Church.

Peggy Howton of Marion died this morning, Sept. 11. Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements.
