Sanders Family Returns to Fohs Hall

The Community Arts Foundation (CAF) will be bringing a production of “Sanders Family Christmas” to Fohs Hall on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

In conjunction with the Badgett Playhouse in Grand Rivers, CAF we will be hosting this beloved sequel to "Smoke on the Mountain. Tickets are on sale now.

In this sequel to the ever-popular New York hit "Smoke on the Mountain," the Sanders family returns to Mount Pleasant, N.C., home of the Mount Pleasant Pickle Factory. It's Christmas Eve, 1941 and Reverend Oglethorpe has invited the family to the Baptist church to sing and witness, getting the congregation into the down home holiday spirit before the boys, including one of the Sanders' own, are shipped off to World War II.

More than two dozen Christmas carols, many of them vintage hymns, and hilarious yuletide stories from the more-or-less devout Sanders family is assured to keep the audience laughing, clapping and singing along with bluegrass Christmas favorites.

“Richly entertaining, this wildly infectious musical brings cheer to audiences eager to see how their friends from Smoke on the Mountain have been getting along,” said CAF’s Kim Vince.

If you did not catch Smoke on the Mountain at Fohs Hall back in September don’t be alarmed. The cast will catch up the audience on the fabled storyline so everyone can enjoy this holiday show.
This will be a one-night-only show at 7 p.m. Tickets for adults are $15 (plus tax) in advance and $17 (plus tax) at the door. Student tickets (17 and under) are $13 (plus tax) in advance and $15 (plus tax) at the door. Group rates for 20 or more are available for $15 each, with no tax.

Tickets can only be reserved by calling Badgett Playhouse at 888-362-4223. Box office hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 12-5 p.m. There are no holds for tickets; you must pay at the time of the reservation. Advance tickets must be purchased with a credit card. There are no refunds.

“We are very excited about this event,” Vince said. “We hope you are, too, and will support the arts in Crittenden County.”
