Severe weather entering region tomorrow

The current weather outlook for Veterans Day has the area at an enhanced risk level of severe weather, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah. This is the greatest risk for the region since July 13, NWS reports.

This is forecast to be a very dynamic and rapidly intensifying system which could yield both an enhanced damaging wind threat and a risk of a few tornadoes. Based on current forecasts, the main time period of concern is Wednesday afternoon – mainly southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois – and Wednesday evening, generally along and east of the Mississippi River.

In addition, NWS is forecasting strong gradient winds averaging close to 20 mph Wednesday and Wednesday night with gusts at or above 30 mph.
