Kentucky State Police say 23-year-old Thomas A. Sanders of Marion was driving an S-10 pickup when he crossed the center line and hit head-on a Pontiac LaSabre driven by Kenneth Euell Guess, 76, of Fredonia Wednesday about 3 p.m., on U.S. 641 at the Marion City Limit.
Guess was pronounced dead at the scene by the Crittenden County coroner.
A news release from state police says Sanders was northbound as he rounded a curve and crossed the center line, striking Guess' vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane – the car was partially in the side ditch.
Guess' wife, who was a passenger, 76-year-old Hazel D. Guess, was flown from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Sanders was flown from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville.
Both Euell Guess and Hazel Guess were wearing seatbelts. Sanders was not wearing a seatbelt.
The investigation by Trooper Darron Holliman is continuing.
The highway was closed for several hours following the accident.
