Salem’s annual lighted Christmas parade will once again feature Fort Campbell’s 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division Band, and local youth Mason Fuller will serve as the grand marshal.
The parade gets under way at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and runs along Main Street beginning at College Street and ending at Farmers Bank & Trust Co., which will be offering free hot chocolate and cookies.
Fuller is the son of Tolu native Brad Fuller and his wife Jenny. Over the last year, the Salem community has rallied around the boy, who has been diagnosed with a rare immune disorder, by hosting fundraisers and drives to help find a bone marrow match for further treatment. Now, for a Christmas gift, the city has chosen Fuller to lead one of the best small town holiday parades in western Kentucky.
City Clerk Hazel Croft said their are nine floats, several cars and other entries signed on for the parade, which carries the theme “O Holy Night.”
