The March 21, 2019 issue of The Crittenden Press included coverage of the the highly successful Old Kentucky Hay Ride music show at Fohs Hall.
An estimated 600 people packed into the local community center to see a show everyone is still raving about.
“It was a helluva show,” said Brennan Cruce, who hosted the March 16 throwback performance with music, comedy and some recognition of local stars who've contributed so much to arts and entertainment here and abroad.
Included in the homemade variety show was an induction ceremony for two individuals into the newly formed Crittenden County Music Hall of Fame. Bill Marvel and the late "Little Jack" Little were honored.

Riverview Park Boat Dock Plans
Fishermen and recreational boaters can find out in this week's printed edition of The Crittenden Press when they can expect the government-approved boat dock to be installed on the Ohio River at Riverview Park in Crittenden County.
It's been a full two years since the county was awarded a matching grant from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund to install a floating dock at the park.
The floating dock will cost about $44,000 to construct at the park formerly known as Dam 50.
Because of occasional flooding along the Ohio River, the dock will be portable so that it can be pulled onto shore during times of high water.
For more, see this week's edition of The Crittenden Press.

Road in northern Lyon closing for work
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans several daytime closures of KY 1943 in Lyon County starting tomorrow.
Highway KY 1943 – which is just south of the border with Crittenden County – will be closed during daylight hours between Tuesday and Thursday of this week to allow several cross drains to be replaced near the Skinframe Creek Bridge and eastward toward the US 641 end of the road.
The roadway is expected to close at approximately 8 a.m., each day, after the morning school bus run. KY 1943 is expected to reopen to traffic around 3 p.m., each day.
The Lyon County Highway Maintenance Crew anticipates being able to replace about 5 cross drains by the end of work on Thursday.
Access will be maintained from each end of KY 1943 but traffic will not be able to move through the work areas while workers are there.

Shooting in Marion leads to assault charge
Bingham |
Chase Bingham, 28, of Marion is alleged to have shot Victoria Clifford, 26, of Marion, at a home they share in town just over two blocks from the police station.
Investigators say he then drove the victim to Crittenden Hospital. Medical personnel alerted police and Bingham left the scene, crashing into the hospital then striking a utility pole and fire hydrant on Main Street before the car burst into flames. Bingham exited the vehicle and was later apprehended inside a residence on Brook Street.
Clifford is reported to be in stable condition at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Bingham was lodged in Crittenden County Detention Center, charged with the assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. More charges are pending, say investigators.
See this week's printed edition of The Crittenden Press for additional details as we continue to gather information on this breaking news story.

The former substitute teacher for Crittenden County Schools, who was charged in January with felony second-degree terroristic threatening, will be in court here Wednesday morning.
Jaken Orten, 22, of Dawson Springs will have a preliminary hearing in front of Crittenden District Judge Daniel Heady. It is scheduled for 10:05am.
Preliminary hearings are evidentiary hearings where the prosecution lays out some of the evidence it has while seeking probable cause to send the case to a grand jury. The burden of proof is very low for a preliminary hearing and the judge will decide what will happen next for the defendant. A grand jury decides whether enough evidence exists to continue prosecution of a case as a felony.
Orten is facing a Class D felony charge. If found guilty, he could face 1-5 years in prison.
Orten was released from custody on Jan. 18 after posting $10,000 property bond. He was arrested that same day for allegedly telling two female students at the elementary school to “sit down, or I will kill you” while brandishing a knife he’d allegedly found in the desk of the science teacher for who he was substituting on Jan. 11. The children told their regular teacher a few days later what had happened and the teacher reported the matter to administrators.
School District officials have said little about the incident since Orten’s arrest, other than to acknowledge that they take school safety very seriously. Superintendent Vince Clark said shortly after the incident that Orten was fired and he is not be permitted to be on or near any school campus, or at any school-related functions.
