Weather alerts issued for county

Two weather alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service for Crittenden County.

A flash flood watch is in effect until 7 p.m. today. The ground is already saturated from rains earlier this week and isolated to scattered thunderstorms this afternoon may result in another inch or two of rain across the region. The risk of flooding is elevated.

Also, an Ohio River flood warning has been issued for the county and is in effect until Friday morning. The Ohio River at Shawneetown was at 34.5 feet at 11:30 a.m. today. Flood stage is 33 feet. The river is falling, however, and is expected to fall below flood stage by Friday morning. The high water should not impact the Cave In Rock Ferry.
