Trigg County residents approved alcoholic beverage sales in the county during a special referendum election Tuesday. The pro-alcohol ballots won by a slim 36-vote margin. The Yes for alcohol sales vote totaled 2,665, while 2,629 residents voted no to the idea. Trigg County officials, by statute, have less than three months to prepare ordinances to allow the sales of package liquor and alcohol by the drink. Ordinances would establish guidelines for signage, hours of sales, Sunday sales, temporary sales permits and taxation. Voting precincts in the county seeking to return to dry status may petition to do so starting today.
