High water closes ferry

The Cave In Rock Ferry is now closed until further notice due to rising water in the Ohio River. It ceased operation at 6 p.m. tonight. It is expected to be closed at least a week and probably much longer.

"The Ohio River is rising a bit faster than anticipated," Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd.

The ferry was expected to be open at least until nightfall, but due to water over the approach to the Kentucky landing at several locations, the ferry shut down earlier.
