Motorists urged to stay off roads

Snow depth in southern Crittenden Co.
There are 6 to 10 inches of snow across parts of western Kentucky with maybe an inch of sleet on the bottom.  There are solated areas of 15 inches with 2-foot snow drifts fairly common.

In Crittenden County, highways, county roads and streets remain covered, many virtually impassable to most traffic.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is urging everyone to stay off the road today to allow crews to do as much clearing as possible.

Interstate 24 remains closed in both directions from about the 16 mile-marker at Reidland to the 65 mile-marker at Cadiz.

KyTC has three contract road graders in the Grand Rivers area. As soon as possible after sunrise, the plan was to send two eastbound on I-24 toward Cadiz and one westbound toward Paducah.
