More than half of Kentucky’s residents were prescribed a painkiller last
year, and a third know someone with problems because of prescription
drug abuse, a new Kentucky Health Issues Poll shows. The state ranked
sixth in the nation for prescription drug overdose deaths in 2011, a
2011 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report said.
