East Depot Street in Marion will be closed two days next week to allow for an old railroad crossing to be removed.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close the street, which runs along Ky. 506, next Thursday and Friday. The crossing lies between Oak and Kevil streets a few blocks off South Main Street.
The roadway at this site is expected to close at 8 a.m. next Thursday following the morning school bus run. It is expected to remain closed overnight, then reopen to traffic around 3 p.m. the following day after the area is repaved.
There will be no marked detour. However, motorists may self-detour via side streets. Trucks should follow approved state routes.
This project is scheduled on a weather permitting basis. In case of rain or other issues, it will automatically move to the next working day until completed.
