Marion firefighters are on the scene of a fire at the Family Dollar Store in Marion. A customer alerted employees to the fire, which started on the northeast wall of the store next to the former video store.
Marion Fire Chief Red Howton said firemen extinguished an 8-foot by 8-foot area of flames and are working to remove flammable merchandise such as toilet paper, paper towels and other products from the wall where the fire started.
The store was filled with smoke while more than a dozen firemen and police assisted at the scene.
