Health officials have reported another patient has been hospitalized
while more than 50 others have been tested for salmonella. A source of
the illness, which has 10 confirmed cases resulting in a death and five
hospitalizations, has not been revealed. “We are trying to figure out
where it is coming from and we’ll go from there,” said Barry Franklin,
environmental supervisor for the Hopkins County Health Department. “We
have been investigating since last Wednesday.” Salmonella is a bacterial
infection caused by eating tainted or undercooked foods.
