Portion of U.S. 62 in Lyon closed Tuesday

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close a section of U.S. 62 in Lyon County on Tuesday.

U.S. 62 will be closed to through traffic east of Eddyville at mile-point 10.75. This along U.S. 62 just east of the U.S. 641 intersection between Eddyville and Princeton. The closure point is at about the mid-point between Paul Jones Drive and Gill Pike Road.

The closure is to allow the contractor to place a cross drain under the existing roadway as part of ongoing work to widen this section of U.S. 62 to four lanes.

The roadway will close at approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday. It is expected to reopen to traffic late in the day on Tuesday. Local traffic will be maintained on each side of the closure point.

There will be no marked detour. Motorists should self-detour via Interstate 69 and Interstate 24.
