Smith allegedly refused several verbal commands to drop his weapon , and he was shot by a trooper in the abdomen area. Smith was transported by the Lyon County EMS to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, where he has undergone surgery for his injury and is recovering in ICU.
KSP recovered approximately 10 ounces of crystal meth with a street value of $18,000 from the residence along with several guns and a large amount of cash. Patricia A. Kilgore, 41 of Eddyville, was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine more than 2 grams) with a firearm enhancement, first offense; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kilgore was lodged in Caldwell County Jail.
Detective Donald Bowman continues his drug investigation and Detective Lt. Trent Weaver, along with lieutenants from two other KSP posts, are continuing their investigation into the trooper-involved shooting.
