I-24 shut down in Trigg County for accident

Both directions of travel on I-24 near the 62 mile marker in Trigg County are closed due to an accident involving a box truck.

The truck struck the centerline barrier wall and ripped open a fuel tank before striking the crash barrier at one of the emergency crossovers where it caught fire, said the Kentucky Department of Highways.

Due to the damage to the crash cushion and barrier wall and substantial debris field, the roadway at this site will be blocked for an extended period of time.

It could be midnight before the roadway is reopened.
