There were several witnesses and police spoke to a few at the scene and had others go with them back to police headquarters at city hall. The driver was also directed to go to the police department to help sort out details of the incident.
The names of the driver of the Ford Explorer and the man who was hit were not immediately released. According to witnesses, the man had gotten out of the vehicle which hit him.
PHI Air Ambulance was called to take the man to a nearby trauma hospital. He appeared to have pelvic and abdominal injuries.
