Transformer blows; Town is Dark

UPDATE: Power has been restored to the City of Marion as of 6:50 p.m.

About 400 KU customers in the Crayne and Mexico communities will be without power until after midnight, power company officials told Judge-Executive Fred Brown.

A Kentucky Utilities equipment malfunction near Fredonia, caused the widespread power outage Monday evening.

Virtually all of Marion was completely without electricity for nearly two hours. At about 5:15, lights flickered a couple of times before the power went off at all businesses and residents in downtown Marion.

Crittenden County customers of Kenergy electricity have not seen any disruption in their power.
