Flags at half staff today

Gov. Steve Beshear has ordered U.S. Flags in Kentucky to be lowered to half-staff today in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who was killed in Afghanistan recently.

Staff Sgt. James P. Hunter, 25, of South Amherst, Ohio, died June 18 in Kandahar from injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division.

Funeral services for Staff Sgt. Hunter are today in Winchester, Ky.

Two other Fort Campbell soldiers died fighting in Afghanistan on Friday.
