MARION, Ky. -- Local and state authorities have launched an extensive search for two inmates of the Crittenden County Detention Center, who escaped from a work detail this afternoon about 1 p.m., today. The men are identified as Chase Bingham of Marion and Alonzo Jackson of eastern Kentucky.
The two males were last seen driving a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck on Ky. 2132 (Sisco Chapel Road) heading toward the Mexico-Frances area. The truck is a 2004 model, extended cab with no additional markings. The Kentucky license plate is 164-JVH. The pickup was stolen from the Kentucky Department of Highways. It belongs to one of the highway workers. The truck had three-quarters of a tank of fuel when it was taken by the two inmates, who had been on work release from the jail, doing work for the state highway department.
Marion Police, Crittenden County Sheriff's Department, Kentucky State Police and Crittenden County constables combed the area between Moore Hill and Frances Wednesday afternoon, but found no signs of the inmates.
Bingham, 19, is a county inmate serving a 90-day sentence for fourth-degree assault and possession of marijuana with just over 60 days left. Bingham is 6-foot tall, 240 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. Jackson, 44, is a Class D felony inmate. Jackson is 5-10, 165 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. A Manchester native, Jackson was serving time for convictions in Clay and Laurel counties for possession of methamphetamine precursors and theft by unlawful taking. He was serving an eight-year sentence with two years to serve.
