Local and state police ended more than a weeklong manhunt today when they captured Barry Beard, 39, of Sheridan. Officers had been looking for him since Beard missed a court appearance two weeks ago and a trial date last week in Crittenden District Court.The suspect was surrounded by lawmen and a police helicopter shortly after noon Tuesday while he was swimming in a creek off Irma-White Road. He had outrun police Saturday in a wooded area near Sheridan.
