State park offering elk, bison buffet

After spending the day hiking, fishing or exploring, there’s no better way to take a break than to enjoy a good meal of bison or traditional wild game. The Kentucky State Parks are offering several opportunities like that during the winter months, including one in nearby Gilbertsville.

Kentucky Dam Village presents a special Elk and Bison Buffet from noon until 8 p.m. Feb. 23. It will include bison steamship round carved on the line, wild boar with honey chipotle barbecue sauce, cornmeal-dusted catfish, elk meatloaf, Southern fried chicken, spicy duck stir-fry, Cajun frog legs, bison taco pie and bison chili. There will be plenty of vegetables and desserts, including banana pudding and baked Alaska. The buffet for adults is $19.95 plus tax and for children ages 12 and under $9.95 plus tax. Children 5 and under are free. Call (800) 325-0146 for information.

With 17 state resort parks with restaurants, the Kentucky State Parks offer a wide variety of good food across the state, including many Kentucky Proud items. For more information about the parks, including reservations for lodge rooms and cottages, visit www.parks.ky.gov.
