Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision Tuesday afternoon that occurred on U.S. 60, approximately 6 miles west of Marion.
The preliminary investigation revealed that James J. Lynch, 52, of Marion was operating a 1997 Ford Explorer westbound on U.S. 60 when the vehicle exited the right shoulder of the roadway. Lynch reportedly overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. It crossed the centerline and exited the left side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a ditch and overturned. It came to rest off the roadway on its top.
Lynch, who was wearing a seatbelt, had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported by ambulance to the Crittenden Health Systems in Marion. He was later transported by ambulance to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., for treatment.
Lynch's passengers, Theresa Hodge, 42, and Rhonda Hodge, 23, both of Marion, were transported by ambulance to the Livingston Hospital and Healthcare Services in Salem.
Theresa Hodge was wearing a seatbelt, and Rhonda Hodge was not.
Trooper First Class Darron Holliman investigated the collision. Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department, Crittenden County Volunteer Fire Department, Crittenden County Rescue Squad, Crittenden County EMS, Livingston County EMS and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
