Former Rocket coach now at UK

Former Crittenden County High School head football coach Steve Pardue is joining the University of Kentucky football team as an assistant coach.

Pardue took part in practice Saturday for the first time, as a temporary employee. He and the university were to make the deal official early this week.

Pardue coached at Crittenden from 1987 to 1990. For the past 20 years, he has coached in Georgia where he sent several players to the collegiate and NFL ranks. For 17 seasons, Pardue was head coach at LaGrange High School where he built a 161-46 record and won three state championships.

Pardue is a native of Hopkinsville and is brother-in-law of another former Rocket coach, Pat Gates.
