District judge injured in fall from treestand

UPDATE: Heady's surgery went well, according to his office.

District Judge Daniel Heady was injured in deer hunting accident Wednesday in Webster County. An avid outdoorsman, Heady fell 18 feet from a deer stand that broke away from the tree while he was hunting. He was able to call for help from his cell phone.

PHI air ambulance evacuated Heady from the scene and took him to an Evansville hospital where he was to undergo surgery today for a serious back injury.

Heady was on the bench in Marion Wednesday morning for the regular weekly district court docket.
