UPDATE: KYDOT reports that traffic is now moving westbound. Eastbound remains at a standstill because of a stalled semi.
Traffic in both directions has come to a standstill on I-24 from an area near Cadiz all the way up through Caldwell County. Tractor-trailer accidents and trucks unable to get traction on the interstate are having to be pulled off before lanes can be opened. Nearby farmers are helping out with their personal tractors.
Motorists have been stranded on the interstate for more than 2 hours. Some are phoning for help from the cars because they are running out of fuel. Emergency personnel are trying to get to them, but the going is proving difficult.
