Former Marion Bobcats star Travis Jankowski could get his first Major League Baseball start today with the San Diego Padres.
MLB.com has reported that the Padres called Jankowski up from its Triple-A farm club and will activate him today. Reports are that the center fielder will get a chance to prove his worth at the big-league level. He's hitting over .330 in the minors this season.

Jankowski played for the collegiate summer baseball league in Marion in 2010 where he led the league in batting and stolen bases. While living in Marion for that summer, he stayed in the Marion United Methodist Church parsonage with Bro. Wayne Garvey.
Jankowski becomes the first player from the now defunct Marion baseball organization to earn a spot on a MLB roster. Although the collegiate Bobcats are no longer here, a number of youth travel baseball teams have sprung up and carry on the Bobcats name.
