Update on Dycusburg flooding

As of mid afternoon Thursday, floodwaters in Dycusburg had receded slightly, but officials don't anticipate a great deal of relief for a few more days. A record amount of water is currently being held above Barkley Dam.

The Cumberland River spilled outside its banks Monday night following heavy rains over the weekend.

The American Red Cross is in Dycusburg today assessing needs and FEMA is expected to be there early next week.

Crittenden County Emergency Management established a command post there early in the week and is currently set up in the Dycusburg Missionary Baptist Church fellowship hall, a building which was protected Tuesday by sand bags.
