Man jumps off TN River Bridge

A Princeton man was taken by PHI air ambulance to a Nashville hospital Wednesday after he jumped off the Tennessee River Bridge on U.S. 62 near Kentucky Dam. The bridge connects Livingston and Marshall counties.

Kentucky State Police received a call at about 2:30 p.m., regarding the incident. Upon arrival of emergency personnel, it was determined that the 51-year-old man had intentionally attempted to take his own life by jumping from the bridge.

Boaters on the Tennessee River rescued the man within minutes of him jumping. A household electrical cord was found around the man's neck at the time of his rescue. It is believed that he was trying to hang himself.

Responding agencies included Livingston County EMS, Burna Fire Department, Grand Lakes Fire Department, Smithland Fire Department and Livingston County Rescue Squad. Kentucky State Police is conducting a non-criminal investigation.
