It appears Rocket Oil is just one bureaucratic step away from getting the green light to expand its Ideal gas station on Sturgis Road in Marion into Marion's second convenience store. On Monday, an ordinance backing Marion Zoning and Planning Commission's blessing to rezone residential property behind the fueling station into commercial was introduced by Marion City Council. A zoning map amendment application indicates intentions for the half-acre lot are for "expansion of service station and (convenience) store."
The ordinance will need a second reading and majority approval from the council before being adopted.
