State of Emergency declared in county

Crittenden County Judge-Executive has declared a State of Emergency in the county due to rising river levels and flooding. Flash floods have damaged public and private property already and the forecast is for more rain.

Emergency Management Director Greg Rushing said today that the Ohio River is not expected to crest for another week. The river level will reach about 57 feet before it stops rising. That will be near record flood levels, Rushing said. The Ohio River was 13 feet above flood stage Monday, as measured at Shawneetown, Ill.
