U.S. 60 closing at Smithland Tuesday morning

U.S. 60 will be closed to through traffic in Smithland starting at 7 a.m., Tuesday. Detour signs will be posted in Marion and Paducah. The highway will be closed until flood waters recede.

Closing the highway is necessary to allow placement of sandbags on the levee in Smithland, according to Keith Todd of the Department of Highways.

Floodwater is expected to be over U.S. 60 in multiple locations near Smithland later this week.
