GRADUATION POSTPONED | Due to the chance of inclement weather tonight (Friday) Livingston Central High School is postponing graduation services until tomorrow.
Commencement in Smithland will begin nat 10am., Saturday, May 17. Doors will open at 9am.
- Livingston Hospital Foundation 5K and 1-mile run, Saturday, May 17 at Marion-Crittenden County Park. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the race starts at 9 a.m. For more information, call or text 270-704-1360.
- Outlaw Off-Road Racing at the Sugar Creek facility off Sugar Grove Church Road May 16-18. Gates open at 8 a.m., daily, with racing starting Saturday at 10 a.m.
- Marion’s new pickleball courts at city-county park will host a Paddle with a Purpose Tournament starting at 10 a.m., Saturday. Open to players of all skill level, the round-robin tournament will feature divisions for men and women. The $25 entry fee in- cludes a T-shirt, with an addi- tional $15 for extra game sessions. Door prizes and snacks will be provided. Call 270-704- 1069 for more information.
- An all-you-can eat breakfast will be held at from 7-10 a.m. at Salem Masonic Lodge #81. The lodge is located at 237 W. Main St., Salem. Cost is $6.
AT&T is experiencing widespread outages today, which is creating a network problem for The Crittenden Press and Early Bird.

City of Marion issued a boil water advisory today at 11 a.m., for the northeast side of town – in the Fohs Hall area of Marion.
A six-inch water main was broken by a utility company working in the area. 88 Dip, Subway, Ideal and Five Star are affected, along with the homes in that quadrant.

On May 1, Chief Deputy Sam Adams responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of US 62 East and US 641. Mark Stone, 61, of Dawson Springs, allegedly disregarded a traffic control device while driving a 2006 Ford F-150, resulting in a crash with a 2014 GMC Acadia driven by Trinity G. Creekmur, 16, of Cerulean. No injuries were reported.
On May 5, Sheriff Brent White and court security deputies executed multiple arrest warrants:
Shawna M. Rosel, 44, of Clarkson was taken into custody on a warrant for failure to appear in Breckinridge District Court. She remains lodged at Ross-Cash Correctional Complex.
Holly L. Stallins, 44, of Princeton was arrested on two warrants for failure to appear in Lyon District Court. She is being held at the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Tamara A. Gipson, 47, of Marion was taken into custody on three probation violation warrants from Lyon Circuit Court. Her probation was revoked the same day, and she was ordered to serve the remainder of her sentence on all three felony cases.
Robert G. Fredianelli, 43, of Georgia was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in Caldwell District Court regarding a DUI case. He is being held at the Crittenden County Detention Center.
On May 7, Deputy Josh Travis responded to a report of a suspicious person walking on KY 730 West. He located and arrested Nicole W. Mayfield, 49, of Eddyville, on a Lyon Circuit Court warrant for failure to appear in a drug case. She was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Between May 8-9, deputies served the following arrest warrants:
Justin Mosley, 33, of Irvine was taken into custody on an Estill Circuit Court indictment for first-degree burglary and being a persistent felony offender.
Justin Ring, 38, of Carlisle was arrested on a Franklin District Court bench warrant for non-payment of court costs, fines, and fees. He also faced a similar charge from Fayette District Court.
On May 9, Sheriff White responded to a theft report at Huck’s Travel Center in Kuttawa. Surveillance footage reportedly showed a male customer taking a woman’s phone after placing his own on top of it. The investigation led to a residence off Stringtown Road (KY 917) in Grand Rivers, where the stolen phone was recovered, and two fugitives were apprehended:
Austin R. Powell, 31, of Princeton was arrested on a Union Circuit Court bench warrant for a probation violation. He was additionally charged with theft by unlawful taking ($500 - <$1,000) related to the phone incident.
Ann Earl, 33, of Princeton was taken into custody on three outstanding Caldwell District Court bench warrants and for providing false identifying information to law enforcement.
On May 10, Sheriff White and Deputy Bobby Beeler responded to a 911 call reporting a man assaulting a female passenger in a Ford F-150 near the Eddyville Industrial Park. The truck was located on Chestnut Street, and the driver, Benjamin Terrell, 33, of Eddyville, was arrested for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence). The female victim declined medical treatment but had visible injuries.
On May 11, just after 3 a.m., Deputy Travis stopped a 2018 Chevrolet Impala driving recklessly on US 62 East. The driver, Bradley E. Molck, 39, of Princeton, was determined to be under the influence and arrested for reckless driving and first-offense DUI (aggravating circumstance). He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

Crews are on site working to address the issue, but drivers should avoid the area until further notice.
Motorists should avoid the area if possible.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has reduced the speed limit on a section of U.S. 62 near Interstate 24 Exit 40 in Lyon County. New signs lowering the speed limit from 55 to 45 mph are expected to be installed today.
The reduced speed zone spans mile points 6.36 to 7.25, from KY 6011 (Doom Chapel Road) to New Circle Road North. This section includes the underpass at Exit 40, between Kuttawa and Eddyville, where traffic volume is high due to interstate access ramps.
Once the new signs are posted, the 45 mph limit will be in effect and enforced. Approximately 7,860 vehicles travel this section daily.

THURSDAY NIGHT AT FOHS
Crittenden County Rocket Band presents "A Night at the Movies,” sponsored by the Community Arts Foundation beginning at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, May 8 at Fohs Hall.
This unique concert experience is being billed as something “Crittenden County has ever seen.” Fohs Hall will be transformed into a full-blown movie theater as the Rocket Band takes guests on an unforgettable musical journey through the world of cinema.
The band’s performance will reimagine some of the most iconic movie music, from epic adventures to thrilling discoveries, complete with zombies, dragons and themes from Harry Potter and Star Wars. The entire performance will be brought to life by talented student musicians.
Concessions will be available, including popcorn, candy and soda. Admission is free. Doors open at 6 p.m.
On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, around 2:10 p.m., SRO Deputy Cory Jessup was investigating several vaping complaints at Lyon County High School when he made contact with a 17-year-old female student who was found in possession of two vape devices — one being a nicotine vape and the other a THC vape, which field-tested positive for marijuana. The student was charged with possession of marijuana, dismissed from school and released to a guardian.
On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, around 6:40 p.m., Deputy Shannon Oliver was dispatched to KY 818 North for a two-vehicle collision. His investigation revealed that a 2025 Ram, driven by Brian K. Porter II, 41, of Paducah, was pulling out of a residential driveway when he failed to see and yield the right-of-way to a 2013 Dodge, driven by Thomas J. Maki, 82, which was traveling south around a curve at the time of the collision. The Porter vehicle collided with the Maki vehicle in the rear driver’s side. No injuries were reported.
On Friday, May 2, 2025, beginning just before 11 a.m., deputies served arrest warrants on the following individuals:
Jeremy Samstad, 42, of Columbia, Mo., was arrested and served with a Lyon Circuit Court bench warrant charging him with failure to appear in court. He was also served with a Marshall Circuit Court bench warrant for failure to appear there as well.
Michael Bryant, 28, of Beattyville, was served with a Lee Circuit Court indictment warrant charging him with first-degree assault and second-degree persistent felony offender.
Jaron Hamilton, 34, of Richmond, was served with a Madison District Court bench warrant charging him with failure to appear in court.
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, around 1:25 p.m., Sheriff Brent White was dispatched along with Kuttawa Fire Department and Lyon County EMS to a single-vehicle injury collision in the Suwanee community. His investigation revealed that a 2020 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Chanin M. Hiland, 54, of Kuttawa, pulled off the right shoulder of U.S. 62 into a parking lot to secure a door that was ajar. During the incident, the driver exited the vehicle, which was not in park. The vehicle began rolling and collided with a parked boat and trailer before continuing forward. The driver attempted to re-enter the moving vehicle but was unsuccessful. The vehicle rolled over her legs, causing injury to her lower legs and feet. It continued rolling and struck an exterior wall of Poplar Creek Lodge, causing significant structural damage. The driver refused medical transport to a hospital.
