LYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S ACTIVITY
On Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., Sheriff Brent White served a Lyon Circuit Court bench warrant on Montel J. Smith, 34, of Locust Grove, Ga. Smith had been a fugitive since 2023 for failing to appear in court in a drug trafficking case. Smith was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.On Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, around 10:55 a.m., Deputy Lori Francis served a criminal summons from Franklin District Court on Clayborn Hunter, 87, of Eddyville. He was charged with 22 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and one count of theft by deception involving $1,000 or more but less than $10,000. He faces an Oct. 9 court date in Frankfort. The case was investigated by Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources game wardens.
On Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, around 3:13 p.m., deputies served Timothy B. Quiggins, 30, of Fairdale, with bench warrants from Meade District Court and Breckinridge District Court for nonpayment of court costs, fees or fines. Quiggins awaits extradition back to the respective counties.
On Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, around 6:14 p.m., Deputies Kip Darnell and Bobby Beeler located and arrested Lacey Townsend, 34, of Eddyville, at a residence off Kentucky 293. She was served with a bench warrant from Caldwell District Court for failure to pay child support. She was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
On Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, around 4:20 p.m., Deputies Bradley Dunning and Josh Travis responded to an injury collision on Interstate 24 near the 40-mile marker. Deputy Dunning’s investigation revealed a 2025 Chevrolet, driven by Abel B. Jones, 21, of Louisville, was westbound on I-24 when the vehicle dropped off the left lane’s shoulder. The driver overcorrected before losing control, crossing both westbound lanes and exiting the right shoulder before colliding with an embankment. The driver sustained minor injuries but declined to be transported by EMS at the scene.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, around 7 p.m., Deputies Bobby Beeler and Kip Darnell arrested Amanda H. Deaton, 47, of Kuttawa, after locating her off Chestnut Oak Road. Deaton was the subject of an indictment from Lyon Circuit Court charging her with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, involving more than 2 grams of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The indictment was the result of a drug trafficking investigation into Deaton led by Deputy Bobby Beeler and members of the Western Kentucky Violent Crime Task Force. Deaton was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
