Farmers in Livingston County, Kentucky, and Pope and Hardin counties in Illinois, may be eligible for emergency loans following a federal drought disaster designation.
Pope and Massac counties were designated primary natural disaster areas because of drought conditions beginning July 28. Livingston and McCracken counties in Kentucky, along with Johnson, Pulaski and Saline counties in Illinois, qualify as contiguous counties.
U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency emergency loans may be used to replace essential equipment or livestock, reorganize farming operations or refinance certain debts. Loan decisions will be based on losses, available collateral and repayment ability.
The application deadline is March 29, 2027. Producers may contact their local USDA Service Center for information.
