Hawkins has more than 30 years of banking experience and has been part of First United’s management team since 2005. He previously served as the bank’s chief financial officer, investment officer and trust officer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Murray State University and a master’s degree in business administration.
Before becoming chairman, Hawkins served as the association’s treasurer and vice chairman. As chairman, he will represent Kentucky financial institutions and lead the association’s advocacy and industry promotion efforts.
“I am honored to serve as chairman of the Kentucky Bankers Association and grateful for the opportunity to represent our industry,” Hawkins said. “I look forward to working alongside my fellow bankers to strengthen our industry and better serve the people and businesses across the commonwealth.”
Hawkins serves on the boards of Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville, the Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corp. and the Salvation Army. He is also a member of Madisonville Noon Kiwanis and finance chairman at Southside Baptist Church.
Founded in 1996, First United Bank has $583 million in assets and operates seven banking centers in Hopkins, Ohio, Daviess and Crittenden counties.
